Field Results – Big Improvements in Northern Iraq

Stick-slip was costing bits, trips and time in long 6 inch sections

Objective

An operator in Northern Iraq was struggling with slow drilling, high vibrations and bit-wear. This resulted in the latest generation of AST being called out.

Results

The 4.75‘’ XC-AST tool was used in three bit runs to drill the Swara ST-B1 sidetrack. In addition to delivering an impressing 60% ROP boost for the section, the new solution also achieved the longest ever run in the field.

The MWD data explains where the gains are from: Stick events were eliminated from the original well to the side track – resulting in a steady cut.

Value

The AST delivered significant time and cost savings for the customer.

Perfect response: Massive ROP gain with less risk.
